My shifter noise sounds similar to yours. I think the dealership will just replace the shifter. Just as well that my appointment got pushed to this next Monday, because my rear axle is starting to make a rubbing grinding noise when backing out of my driveway and turning the wheel. (after the car has been sitting overnight) There is alot of others on this site with this issue. No big deal. Should get them both fixed this next Monday at the dealer. So I suggest taking it to your dealer and have a tech sit in your car, and show him the noise. Then get r fixed.
Just got my car back. They did replace the whole shifter unit. I tell you the truth, the little trigger on the shifter handle never did feel right to me from day one of owning the car. It kind of had a stuck or jammed feeling, did not want to push in smoothly all the time. Now it feels good, easy/smooth to push the trigger. Also at the very bottom of the unit is a bushing/fitting that connects to the shifter rod from the tranny. You can see it from underneath the car above the exhaust in that area. That bushing/fitting was loose, had too much play in it. So anyways, the shifter feels great, noise it gone. I am happy with the results.
