My younger brother just bought an SS with a K&N on it from our dealer two days ago. That's what brought this all up because they had the car scheduled for GM Certification, but they could not certify it due to the airbox. So they ordered a factory airbox and in that process, the bulletin was discovered and they wanted to let me know about it so I could tell him if he ever needs service to swap the stock parts back in and he should be okay.
I don't actually work in service guys, I'm an I.T. technician..so let me get in touch with the people there who know more about this and see what I can find out.
I will say this information came straight from our service manager, so I would say it is on pretty good authority. He said they have had a few SS models come in that couldn't get warranty engine replacements because of the K&N bulletin.
