The thing about the wedge, or at least mine, is if I lay it against the back of the throttle body, it bows out in the center and has a gap. The gap closes when tightened down, but that has me wondering if that is where the leak may be coming from if/when the bolts loosen slightly.

I have also noticed the bowing as you mentioned. I don't think the TB is the problem, but the intake manifold itself... Something else I noticed is that not all of my threaded inserts on the manifold are flush with the mounting face, and are sticking out slightly. I tried tapping them back in but they wouldn't budge. I suspect it's always been this way. Definitely bowed though.
