The GT500 Evo made can run 9s for around 10k with no nitrous or gear swaps how do I know? Because after I made the thread asking about a ZL1 vs a CTSV I started seriously researching the tuning capability of the new GT500 and was pleased. Chances are I will trade in for it next year if I can order one around late Fall still.
The only challenge will be finding a way to mod it both in the 9s while adding changes that allow its weight advantage to beat the ZL1 around the turns.

I think you forgot that in order for them to go 9's they had to remove 3 seats add full drag suspension and brakes front and rear. Getting it to run 9's while being able to handle and brake like stock will be really hard when comparing it the zl1 unless you want to spray but even that car had to have aller brakes do yet again another snag. It will get real interesting when someone does cams head work and a bigger blower(without blowing it up like evolution did) and run 9's without spray or smaller brakes.
