There have been several bad dealer reports posted, and while I've had issues with the quality of workmanship at my dealer, I've given them every opportunity to get things corrected. My last actual visit was in June, and I really thought that everything was done right and my issues would be over.
I was wrong. I recently found a couple of issues that were the direct result of incorrectly-performed repairs. I stopped in a couple of weeks ago to show them to the body shop guy that has helped me in the past. He looked it over, and stated he would call me "next week" (my visit was on a Saturday).
Two weeks passed, and no call. This was very typical of this guy. So yesterday I called him. He said, "I talked with the guys in sales, and they said that we can't help you. We made the adjustments you asked for, and if you want if fixed this time, you'll have to pay for it." Keep in mind that the adjustments he is referring to were to the front and rear fascia, as addressed in a GM TSB.
I won't get into the gory details of the rest of the conversation, but it didn't go well. He was basically saying that the dealer refused to repair the issues that they themselves caused during the last repair. If you're interested in my nightmare, you can see it in my
journal.
They previously refinished the front fascia, and the paint is perfect. For whatever reason, the grille has cut through the fascia decal, allowing the yellow underneath to show through:
The TSB they performed included adjusting the rear fascia a little bit, so that it didn't contact the body. This is a preventative measure to keep the paint from cracking/chipping like it did on the front of my car. The front required refinishing, in addition to the adjustment:
The problem today is that they didn't check the adjustment on the rear, so over time the paint has rubbed off where the rear fascia rubbed against the trunk lid:
The trunk lid:
Here you can see the tight contact between them when the trunk is closed:
These are the items that the dealer refuses to fix. I did verify that they claimed the previous repairs to GM under warranty. I had a different dealer check that for me. The bottom line is that they are refusing to fix their own crappy work.
I plan to take my car to a different dealer to see what can be done. I will never set foot in my selling dealer's store ever again. I am convinced they're crooked anyway, evidenced by this
post that I made the other day. I am reporting them to the BBB, and will be contacting Brandon for a case number. At this point, even if the offer to repair it after the BBB is notified, I will not be taking it back there. Until I have this fixed at another dealer, I will point these flaws out and tell my story to any car show folks that are interested.
