ican throw ya'll for a stranger loop along the same lines diff type failure tho my parents had a 91 caprice bought it usedin 93 still had part of the factory warrenty on it heres where it gets strange the pinion kept going out dealer kept trying 3 times to put the reg pinion in for a 4 door sedan come to findout the whole time the thing had the wagen rear diff in it and they never could get it fixed car ended up traded not long after 4th attempt but yeanumbers matching is whatmost want down the line but hey if yahave major failure andremanis the only way to go ya can have it documented like i have seen in barrett jackson many time when folks show that a major part was replaced early in the vehicles life good luck on ya situation and keep ya head up
