This may seem obvious but I'm just trying to help. Since you blew the doors off a Mustang, it can't be a HP issue and the tires aren't any wider or stickier than on my old T/A.
+1 to this, I think you are holding the brake too hard, and make sure you are in first gear. I think some people think that the car should just burn the tires by flooring, it, but to me a burnout means you hold the brake (just enough) and keep the car stationary while flooring the throttle until the rpm's come up, then back off enough to keep the tires spinning.
