1) The problem with regulators is that they don't take kindly to people who find ways to avoid their master plans. They set regulations on particulate emissions from new electricity plants and once they got that passed they decided that they should also apply them to existing plants because they stopped making new ones. Eventually, they find ways to force you to comply or make it utterly imractical to avoid compliance. If I keep my 5th gen, who's to say that in 10 years they don't impose a "V8 Tax" of $10K a year?

2) I encourage everyone to do just this. We know that we can't touch these people spewing 18,000 pages of new regulations per year, so we have to vote for people who can de-fund their agencies or write laws to reign them in.

We have to act fast, before it's too late.
