I believe it has been posted before from members that live on the islands that they pay much more for an SS there than we do in the 48 states.
Would any of us really be shocked to find out that some "smart" exec came up with the plan to rebadge cheaper versions in an expensive market where 90% of the renters won't have a clue what they are really renting to save/earn more money for the company?
Sounds like good ole american corporate greed to me and if you get caught just act dumb.
