HI All,
Just an update/recap while I'm waiting around to go out for the morning. Yes, Hertz did say this was an SS with a V8 when I was renting. I actually said to the counter agent, this is a V8 model correct? And they confirmed.
The car itself only has the SS badges on the back. And the key tag seems to have SS added onto the car description, the picture is a page back.
I'm not suing the company, they have knocked down the rate for me which I am happy with. I just really want to know how this happened. I will be contacting Hertz corporate again with the video I shot. I have also posted on their facebook page, guess I can see where that goes. If anyone wants to comment on their page my post should be listed on their wall under "posts by others".
In the end I am just really confused, especially after speaking with the Hertz office I rented from. I had stopped by yesterday to show them he car and I was told two items that made me a bit miffed. I was told:
"we just rent them as cars we are told they are" and "as a rental company we are not allowed to carry V8 cars"
That second statement had made me a bit mad since they obviously are able to hold/rent V8 cars since they advertise them in their Adrenaline series.
So I guess we will see where this goes. As I have mentioned before I feel bad for anyone else who has rented this car and paid the full V8 upcharge. Either way the Hertz local office has either intentionally rebadged this car or they have no idea on how to keep track of their fleet. Lets say someone did rent a regular LT, badged it an SS, wrote SS onto the key tag, and returned it. How the hell did Hertz put it into their system as an SS upon return. What did they say....oh hey we have another SS on the lot?? Great!
The more I think of it, I have to say I'm thinking Hertz might be a bit less innocent than I had originally thought.
