What wax did you use? A good quality wax/polish should prevent water marks.

You have not destroyed the paint.

IMO, you did the right thing by re-washing the entire car. I can offer you thoughts on polishing, future drying, etc., but I think the folks in this section are tired of my sounding like a pitchman for a certain product.
