I slowly accelerated my 2011 2SS/RS M6 the other day in 37 deg F weather and held the clutch pedal to the floor while slowly shifting into 2nd gear (forgot to note RPM's but wasn't any higher than 3K) and it ground hard. 2900 miles on the car and built in April 2011. Then, once it warms up it doesn't happen again.

Am I to understand that there are no updates to this transmission? Will I just have to trust the dealer to replicate the problem and attempt to fix it?

It's just the cold weather, you have to let the trans warm up.

get the trans good and hot then come to a stop. Put the car in first gear then drive the car from first to second winding out the rpm to 4500 before shifting to second. If it don't grind then it's just the cold weather.
you can't shift these transmissions cold.
