Throttle response can be helped with the aid of a ported throttle body from RX Performance. Contact them for one of those. Do a search, many of us have them and like the added throttle response these provide.

The black tail pipes are normal. These LLT's run rich and they like it that way too. This has been covered in many other threads and seems to be a constant issue. Different fuels weather 87 - 93 octane does not make much difference.
