The prices are falling on these like crazy. Many new companies are popping up making flat panel LCD's and Plasmas (LCD's are now becoming more popular due to the fact that you won't get screen burn in). Actually, you won't get screen burn in on a plasm if your input wattage on the tv itself is turned down. We had ours turned down quite a bit since we would get burn in from watching something for about 10 min. THAT was crazy!

But, LCD's are becoming more popular...you can also hook up the video game to it and not worry about that burn in. Plasmas, on the other hand, are MUCH MUCH MUCH better for sports and quick screen/color changing action. Read up on the differences before buying. Plasma prices dropped more than LCD's lately. You WILL find a tv that won't cost you an arm and a leg!!! Oh, and that tv we had? It's gone down $700 more dollars since we bought it..........freakin' crazy.
Yeah, the 47" 1080p LCD I want is $1500. I'm not into sports (of any kind) so that's not overly important to me. But I do still want a TV that can display great images no matter what I watch. I originally leaned plasma due to them being able to display more shades of gray (so darker scenes look better, and I watch a lot of horror movies/tv) but haven't seen anything to turn me away from the LCD's I've seen.

Burn-in was something I worried about with the plasma too.
