Think of it this way, if you trade-in for the SS:
You already paid taxes on the 38k, you will need to pay taxes again for the SS. i think right there you will be out like 6 grand. (the cost of a supercharger)
And this is just for the taxes, not including the chunk of money you will loose at the trade.

You also lose the warranty and gain some potential engine problems in the future, also the car needs other mods before the supercharger
