Dual Clutch Transmission
Basically it acts like an automatic but it has two drive lines, gears 1,3,5,7 and 2,4,6 on the other. So when you are in 1st, 2nd gear is already engaged and you are just going back and forth between the two clutches. So it is "pre shifted" if that makes sense.

Early units had driveability issues at slow speed and launch. New ones it's nearly identical to driving an automatic.
Basically shifts are faster than a manual or automatic can do because you are just alternating clutches.
