Drain times very as per the person doing the job.Operating motor temp is a must. Cold motor and hour long drain time is not proper.Manufactures recommend capacities by this guideline...My opinion is to first start by draining the oil. While draining replace the oil filter. When reinstalled oil will be down to a small stream. Aproxx 4mins of drain time. Replace the drain plug. Install the recommended amount of oil. Start the vehicle and run for 20 to 30 sec. Check oil within 30 sec after shutdown. Add if needed. Repeat the run procedure again and recheck. Double check the plug and filter and your done! Everyone has an opinions but mine is a warranty approved one. I own a new car warranty approved lube shop and have been at it for 23 years. This procedure was on my certification exam over 20 years ago. It still has not changed. I've done a few hundred thousand oil changes and take pride in what I do. Hope my opinion helps a bit. On going argument but I go with the warranty approved one.
