Ends the debate?

Ronin,

First off excellent point, which I feel sheds some real legitimate light on the LT, ST debate. Secondly, what plugs did you go with? Gap? Running 91 on the dyno? Dynojet dyno, or? Great vids BTW.

My only impute on the debate is this. Yes, LT's have the possibility of always making more power, but... People always tend to let emotion and quick judgement in when posting. Here we have a more apples to apples example. Alone ST have little gains, it is the cat's where the real gains are seen. Compare my friends LS3 with a CAI, LT's and HF cat's. He made 405 pre-tune, 412 after tune on a dynojet vs Ronin's 412 no tune. This is a great apples to apples comparison. Same motors and mod's except for headers. Ronin goes on to do a plug and oil swap and make even more power untuned. Don't know his parameters, but my example was low humidity, 60's and Las Vegas altitude.

Thoughts?

Btw, I have a L99 with only a CAI and JBA hf cat's, total investment so far $310, no dyno #'s. Planning on Shorties and plug/wires.

Shorts with high flow cats work well and is a great alternative for smog people. Because it's a hell of a lot easier to replace the cats than the whole header and system. A tune on this set up is not needed but will help power wise. Cells that pop up are usually due to the rear sensors reading abnormal exhaust flow. Simple extenders will fix that. I dynoed 412whp no tune LS3. Then dynoed again after oil, plug and wire change on a much cooler day and did 428whp no tune. This combo does well imo. And should not be shot down so quickly by those who have never had this set up.
