The 1LE suspension is a yawn. Chevrolet had to dumb it down. Withe the semi-square wheel and tire package and ZL1 25mm front and 28mm rear bars it is too balanced. it is an oversteer bias. So they dumbed it down with a 27mm front bar, you know the same size bar Pedders has been running on the 5th Gen sin the spring of 2009. For the 1LE to be kick ask on the road course you have to order a 25mm ZL1 bar or a Pedders 32mm rear bar. That is a much improved 1LE.

Then there is the matter of spring rate and ride height. It is still too tall and too soft. It only needs to come down and inch. I know it and they know it, but there is the expense of crash testing... Our standard coilover rates are 8kg front and 10kg rear. That is a big gain over the OE rates. On our OUSCI 5th Gens we ran 12KG front and rear. WOW!!!!

The ride quality is probably 55 or 60% of the OE SS, but the handling is ridiculous. If there were a way around ride height, the Camaro TEAM would be all over it. If the Camaro TEAM can convince enough people you'll see a dramatic change in spring rate and ZL1 or Pedders spec bars. The Z/28 would be a no electronic assisted track animal in the hands of the very best drivers. I have no doubt it would out run a ZL1 all day everyday (with a massive oil cooler on the engine). While the ZL1 heat soaks along with the GT500 the N/A LS7 with a Pedders style oil cooler would not be breathing hard.

Your thoughts?
