Honda's new Accord with V6 has AFM if you get auto trans, no AFM with manual.
It seems like AFM and VVT are two different things mechanically it seems to me that it would be a waste of money to invest in a car two one engine for an auto' (L76) and one engine for a manual (LS3.) Why certify two engines when you could save money with using one? Assuming the statements that there are going to be six-speed autos' and manuals, why make that investment?...
Bottom line:
Automatic trans Camaro V8's will have the L76
Manual trans Camaro V8's get the LS3
3.6L same thing...Auto trans gets afm - manual does not
The percentage overall of manual transmissions will be low by choice, preserving CAFE numbers.
If gas prices continue to rise - Camaro gets turbo 4cyl as well
Gas prices steady or down - no turbo 4cyl. available
fbodfather said $37000 V8 Camaro would bomb...
How much for V8, manual trans, mid-level Z28? Less than $37000?
Please tell me...

I don't think the cars are going to need the diversity that truck platforms require (engine-wise) so I don't really thing they would have different engines only due to transmission choices. It makes sense, in my brain, that a T-4 would be a good base option, to cover the people who want economy first and performance second. Since the LS3 will work with A6s and M6s I think it will get the nod' for the "base" V8.
Father has already stated many times that Camaro should be in the same neighborhood as Mustang and that premium could mean $50, or something along those lines. I think we could see a mid-level V8 (i.e. Z28 OR SS) around that price, fully loaded, and a top-level V8 (i.e. Z28 or SS) about $40K +/-.
It's all speculation until Indy.
