We've made some major improvements but there is still a long way to go. My parents are at the least prejudiced, bordering on racist. My brothers aren't much better. Its not directed at any group in particular either. Natives, middle eastern, Asian, African, even Europeans it doesn't matter. Everything is just so casual about it with them that they probably don't even notice.

I'd like to say that I'm completely blind to issues of race but its not true. I notice, I don't act any differently towards others but I don't recognize them as being the same as me. That comes from my upbringing I am sure. From what my family said, and having practically no interaction with anyone other than white Canadians while growing up -there is one Asian family and one black family back home, at a town of about 7500.

I just heard on the news about uneasiness in Toronto between Koreans and Iranians who have recently immigrated to an area. And the creation of an all black school. It will be a while before we ignore where a person comes from. Hopefully it will eventually happen though
