Ive owned an auto 11 5.0 and now a 12 L99
The low end torque in the 5.0 is lame especially with the stock tune and 3.15's. The auto 5.0 felt weaker from a stop and a roll (sotp) stock but was actually a little quicker.
As far as the flat spot/low end thing, you'll find the L99 more satisfying there.
If all you care about is going fast at the strip get the 5.0. Big gains with a tune.
To me the auto 5.0 was more boring, less comfortable and not as good looking as my L99.
