The reason for that is for that starting price -- of 45k -- for the SRT8 Challenger, it is basically loaded from the start. You do not have a 1SRT8 or 2SRT8 equivalent to a 1SS or 2SS. Every thing that is standard on the SRT8 is optional on the SS. In order for me to even build an SS to match the options on my Yellow Jacket I would have to jump straight to the 1LE and final price of 43k.

My Yellow Jacket was 47k and some change, I paid 41k.

No - give thanks to a little micro economics term called economies of scale. The camaro and mustang are cheaper due to the fact that they have a higher unit output than the Challenger. GM/Ford has the ability to lower the cost per unit as output increase (Which I LOL when a 5th gen camaro owner say they see a mustang on every block) If GM/Ford produced the same amount of units as Chrysler the prices would be the same.
