Crisis averted. As a last ditch I was going to disassemble the whole assembly to open up room for the arm to go in straight. As luck would have it the first thing I unbolted was the tie rod, the rotor spun out enough to get the arm lined up and bam. 5 hours of BS turned into a 5 minute project. On to the rear end tomorrow! Thanks for the replies guys.
