I haven't taken it apart yet, however I was told by someone who has that the acrylic piece on the door panel is actually clear, and painted from the inside. The very top is left unpainted allowing the light to shine through. I do not know whta the light source is, if it's a light tube, or led's, or whatever. Hope this helps.
