Hand attempts will mask or remove the finest blemishes. For those harder clear coat surfaces, I have always recommended to use the least agressive means necessary until something stronger is needed. On darker colors, I like to use the Menzerna PO 106 FA "Super Finish" using a black finishing pad on a PC or FLEX. This is an extremely fine micro-abrasive that smooths and refines to perfection while removing the fine lines that occur during the washing/drying process.
