Let me just say this first! Being completely honest and total serious. I truly have no allegiance to any trim package (SS or Z/28)...I’m just going with GM's tendency over the past few decades.
Now this is how I see it!..I feel that SS is to Camaro as the ZR1 & Z06 (of late) have been to Corvette.
For example: If you go to the corvette build web page, and you choose the Z06 (LS7 @ 505hp)...you can't add the Z51 package (I’m using the Z06, as you can’t build the ZR1 as of today), which we all know if the handling package. If you choose the Standard V8 (LS3 @440hp) corvette, you then can add the Z51 Package.
From my understand the Z/28 package back in ’69 was the sport handling package
With a 327, The SS had the 350…am I wrong; please correct me if I am!
So if GM follows that pattern of thought, and history as I know it...I believe it will go like this.
Base Model (V8) = LS3 @400hp
Z/28 = LS3 @400+hp (Sport Tuned) + Handling Package. Maybe some reduced weight by have the basic interior package. Like the “1lt” interior package on the Corvette…better for Autocross (if you want to do that)
SS = LSA (Super Charged w/the Handling package & Maybe Luxury Interior)
Just my 2 Cents…and I’ll say no more!
