That's exactly why the 2011's had the thin plastic clips on them! The engineers all think, or know, we're inept (nothing towards you Pnyklr, I did it too...). They intentionally designed the clips to pop off the posts under pressure, unfortunately too little pressure! The clips I designed will not come off the post, even under full load from the top raising, so I've been very careful to ensure the cover is removed first.
I assume you have (had) the bungee cord loops? Any damage to the cover or car?
