I'm interested in knowing if there is a limit on dB from the factory imposed by our government.
Do you all think GM made it quiet(relative speaking) cause that's what we wanted or if they knew HP would be higher with a less restrictive exhaust and that the fact it sounded like it meant business?
My two cents;
I think it sounds a lot more like it should without the mufflers, not too loud, but loud enough to let everyone know it has some power when you get on it. The drawback, some cackling on decceleration if you don't disengage the clutch.
I can't say I 'felt' any improvement after just removing the mufflers, but after adding CAI, there's no doubt in my mind it is making more power.
Sure, if I had a large disposable income, I would have done something different. This just buys me some time till I find and afford the best headers and full exhaust. And I eventually need to save up for a rear tire replacement, holy crap that's some expensive rubber
