I have a L99 Camaro, my muffler guy and I did some extensive testing on the L99 system a few days ago. We started off by removing the Massive resonator in the belly of the exhaust system. It was actually the only piece of exhaust that was gold right in the part where it flows over the crossbrace under the car. Just removing this resonator did absolutly nothing for the sound of the car it sounded exactly the same and registered the same on a DB reading inside a closed garage. So we experimented further by cutting the mufflers open, we removed all the fiberglass matting, also in the picture we cut open the other compartment and inside you see an extra pipe the directs the soundwaves back into the massive muffler. We capped off that extra pipe and got some extra sound out of it, but even with that capped it still is barely audible. With the mufflers completely cut off and the resonator replaced with a X-pipe the car is very loud, so we added in line bullet resonators in place of the factory mufflers and it gave the car and amazing sound for maybe 100 bucks.
