If you're really concerned about potential things that may go wrong with your Camaro and believe you will hold onto it for many more years, you may want to consider purchasing a General Motors Protection Plan (GMPP). You can choose different mileage, years and deductibles. I would DEFINITELY not go with anything else that your local bank or credit union or dealer may offer.

With a GMPP, you're covered nationwide and in Canada at any GM dealer for repairs (parts and labor). (as long as the repair is covered under your specific warranty). Some plans also offer 24-hour roadside assistance (as with your new car and extended warranty one might opt for at the time of a new car purchase).

These can be purchased from any GM dealer's finance department. You may want to shop around at different dealers to see which one will offer you the best deal as plan cost IS negotiable.

I purchased the Major Guard plan over 7 years and 48k miles (I believe) for one of my vehicles which I only drive about 4k miles / year. Cost around $1600 (if memory serves me correctly). Read up on it. As someone mentioned, one costly repair over the life of the warranty and the plan will have paid for itself.

If you do puchase an extended warranty, you may or may not ever need it. However, it's like insurance, it's there if you ever need it. For some people definitely worth the cost. For some people, it's either not worth it or unaffordable.
