IMO man up, if you are a grown adult why would daddy care what you do? and if it is that big of a deal, then maybe he should not have sold the car..
once I was 18 and on my own my father could give a rats ass what I did with my money.. While he might not agree and would say something, it wasn't anything more than a passing comment, had no affect on our relationship.
