This happened to me also when I installed my paddle shifters. Once that small tab is broken on the button even stretching out the shifter housing will not help as it will keep popping off or be really hard to depress. I fixed mine by replacing the paddle button, and making sure I did not break the tab when putting on the paddle shifters. On a side note, now that the paddle shifters are on they are awesome.
