Arrow Open Letter to Mr. Sapphire Mustang Guy - Omaha

Dear Mr. Mustang GT Guy,

I remember you from last fall. You followed me (tailgating) for over 3 miles. I saw that you had "In-Transit" tags on your car, so I wrote it off as an "overzealous" new performance-car owner. I was okay with that until you did the blatantly unnecessary burnout at the stop sign after I had turned the corner. You then entered into the first stages of d-baggery, but no big deal.

About 2 or 3 weeks after that, you drove by my car wash as I was polishing Bumble Bee. You clearly saw me, and even went so far as to do a U-turn and drive through the parking lot. Nice looking GT you had there...until you revved your engine several times as you slowly drove past. I would tell you that I was impressed, but that would be a lie. Instead, I relegated you to stage two on the d-bag meter. Your stock GT is just another one of many.

Let's fast-forward to yesterday. As luck would have it, the day was gorgeous and I spent a few hours driving around our fine city enjoying my car, and the fresh air. Evidently the freshly-installed growl is attracting attention. A nice pair of dudes in a 392 Challenger pulled up alongside me and told me that the 'Bee sounded wicked. They were looking for a race, but I politely declined. On with my day.

As I was wrapping up my cruise, I decided to head over to the DQ near my place for a creamy, frosted beverage. Oddly, after the Chally guys encounter, I remembered you from last fall. Not sure why, but I was thinking about your unnecessary displays of d-baggery, and how I really don't like guys like you.

As if on queue, there you were. Heading the opposite direction in the four-lane I was on. As soon as I heard you revving the engine as we passed each other, I knew it was you; the d-bag.

I LOL'd. "Watch", I thought. "He'll follow me again."

Man, you are predictable. Flipped a U-turn right after you saw me, didn't you? I was no longer amused. Now I was irritated. I did note that your exhaust no longer sounded stock. But then, neither did mine.

Against my better judgement, I gave you what you wanted. Bee 1, D-Bag Mustang Guy 0.

Sorry it had to end that way. But wait! You couldn't leave it alone. You followed me into the DQ drive through asking for another go. I asked you what you planned to do differently that would produce a different outcome? Then I explained that the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again, expecting a different outcome. You just got mad.

You left, only to continue circling the block. Now I was amused again. LOL, I'm done. I went home and enjoyed my ice cream. You're probably out there still looking for me. Better buy a few more parts first. Until then, I wish you well. Tone down the d-baggery a bit though, please? You're not a young guy, and neither am I. We should know better.

See you next time.

Yours Truly,

Strych9
