cant tell if your #2 is valve cover or manifold but valve covers go to center hole on the catch can and one outside hole goes to filter inlet and the other goes to the intake manifold. So intake manifold pulls vacuum out of boost. In boost the hose to the manifold is sealed by a check valve and the hose that goes to the filter pulls vacuum on the system. #3 circle stays sealed as others have said. I believe there is a diagram in the "understanding proper crankcase ventilation" sticky. I hope we've all helped.
