You're (↑↑↑) missing SCHUSS's point. A torque converter (of any spec) is not a universally acceptable substitute for a manually operated clutch, no matter how much it may benefit the car's dragstrip performance numbers or even just the straight line "feel". Simply put, there are other factors at work here, and they seem to be a lot harder for the average drag racer to fully grasp.
