This is the dot matrix that has been on front and back glass for 20-25 years now. In the vast majority of cases, you end up with a "ghost line" that is shown in the 2nd photo down. This line is created because the tint cannot get down into and adhere to the valley between the dots. The two ways I know of to get rid of that ghost line completely is to sand the dots down or to use black vinyl to cover them up. I've heard the main reasons dot matrix is there is to trim out the window and to help cover up the "unsightly" adhesive used to seal the glass. I do not buy the "sun glare" argument.
