I've been building my plan around that supercharger with the erroneous assumption that it would fit under a stock hood.

If I dump the supercharger, then I don't need more than 2/3 of the rest of the hard mods that i had planned for the car and with the tuning 'fun' this car is, very much makes this engine combo back into a dead end.

Of course, i still love the car, but it feels like it's knees have been chopped out from under it.

Is this common, or is it just the disappointment feeling larger than it really is.

It's not really that big a disappointment for me. I was basically already worried that it'd come down to the tuning where this kit would either be made or broken but now that you have to modify the hood or add the cost of an aftermarket one, that's the nail in the coffin for me on this kit.

I completely agree with CD07 though. It's all about tuning in FI and it looks like only one company has been able to get it down. I'd love to see a great tune behind this kit but I guess we will see what happens.

Now it looks like SC customers have to budget another $1500-ish for a compatible hood. Sweet. Might as well trade in on an SS once you add in that expense to an already pricey chinese SC option that probably won't ever matter because Vince can't properly tune these ECMs for FI according to some that have gone that route.

I won't be doing any big mods now. I'll probably do a Black Ice, washer relocation and scoop, and ported TB, that's about it.

The LLT was a major headache and an overall disappointment for anyone interested in modding. I'll be looking to get out of this car sooner rather than later.
I'll definitely not be going for any major FI unless I can get a smokin deal or something. But after contemplating, it's completely not worth it with the LLT. I'll probably run a small shot of nitrous through it for my "fix" and leave it at that. Probably work on more cosmetics and suspension now to at least make it a fun and good looking car.

I definitely agree with you that it's all in the tuning and only one company has been able to get it down so far.

Might be time to trade in and get out of the LLT. If that was my car, I'd be raising hell with GM though. 2 engine replacements in that short of time is unacceptable.
