Okay, I had to bring light to this somber atmosphere. At least that's not as bad as asking you questions for the same answers you've already provided in your orignial post.
Sheesh! Quit making the broken man repeat parts of his story a dozen times! Are you ok? How fast were you going? What happened? Was the tree ok?
That is one cop who is absolutely heartless. Improper lane change? HELLO! I THINK HE'S BEEN PUNISHED ENOUGH! And to think of how long he's looked forward to getting his car and then lose it in one day. Not to mention the horrid pain he's suffered and will continue to for a long time! I don't care if you deemed it a violation of the law because he could have killed someone head on by falling asleep or whatever... it is what it is. Sometimes mercy needs to be shown. I don't think he's gonna go out and do this again! OMG! It's cops like him who give them a bad rap! He would be the cop that needs to be watched very closely by internal affairs for not having a clear head!!!
You are very lucky to be alive! I honestly believe someone was looking out for you! The car can be replaced, but you can't obviously. I know you are very thankful. Take care of yourself and be proactive and careful once behind the wheel again. And don't wear yourself out with all the repeated answers.
