Noob. Not quite your situation but earlier this year I gave several thousand dollars to a recently divorced friend to help her keep her house until she could get back on her feet. While she was extremly grateful it caused her to feel weird about our friendship. I guess she felt like she owed me. She didnt it was a a gift that we were happy to give and were able to at the time. In the end it cost me a lot more than the money it cost me the best friend I've ever had. Very painful and I'll always miss her but still happy we were able to do it for her and her kids. You too have experienced something very costly in more ways than one. Perhaps you were put together by kharma because of your ability to help her. Be happy with yourself. She's healthy now in part due to you. Sadly I heard my ex best friend is now about to lose her house after all. If we could we'd help her again. It's ok to still love her. You can always cherish those times even as you move forward in life.
