On a side note I have the K&N typhoon... And I love the thing. I could definitely tell a difference and it wasn't over priced like some intakes. K&N has always had quality products IMO and I am not just saying that because it is a huge name brand. I plan to adapt my intake for my super/turbo when that day comes I like it that much. But to each their own I guess

Here is my opinion, if you just want a feel good mod so that you can grin when you push the gas pedal down, then Like some others have said, it really doesn't matter. The JRE test is just to give an idea of how they compare to each other on the dyno with no changes to tune.
However, if you plan to race your car, then absolutely it matters Bc I chase down every possible HP I can! But that's just me. Most all the top brands deliver HP gains for the extra dollar. Your not just buying a name. I am not familiar with a Hennessy CAI so I can't comment on it.
So make your decision based on what you plan to get out of your car. If you really don't race, and probably won't ever mod your car, then hey K&N up and enjoy the mod and the fact that it didn't cost much.
If you fall into the group most guys do and you don't wanna come in 2nd on a race, then you will want to consider a top brand CAI.
I use the ADM Race CAI w/scoop! It killed the K&N and outperformed the CAI inc and it made my car perform to it's maximum!
If I were gonna decide on a 2nd intake, I would try Vararam, Roto Fab, or maybe RacnJason's Cold Rush CAI.
