I think the big thing is that the black doesn't reflect the light well enough to give it a bright glow. Mine is also very very dim. I'm really aggravated that GM didn't give us an option to get other interior packages. I'd have snagged up the IOM interior in a heartbeat.
But to answer the OP, it's definitely blue.
