427's rule, which they were offered in the SS. Sorry, but a ZL1 for $24k more, with that stupid "gas guzzler tax", forget about it. I know the tax is the Feds, not GM, but even worse. Think about it, with the gas mileage the ZL1 gets, it is paying a guzzler tax, on every gallon it gets....

I agree with you on this one. I purchased my SS convertible fully loaded for $24k less than the ZL1 convertible I also test drove the same day. Gas guzzler tax, 6mpg less, etc. I love the 7 liter, but, I would not own a coupe over a convertible. I think the Z/28 will be too one dimensional. I like all the extras. That's why I would take the ZL1 convertible over the Z/28 if I wanted to spend the extra money on a Camaro.
Fogey, if you do get a new Z/28 or ZL1 come to our "cars in coffee" in La Canada and take a fast cruise with us up Angeles Crest. Good luck on your decision.
