I originally intended to overlay the outside, but I have been having difficulty finishing the pieces either via polish or clearcoat. I had seen this thread and followed the instructions on removing the paint from the backside and figured maybe I could do carbon fiber on the inside and not have to worry about finishing.
Well, here are the results! It's hard to tell from the pictures, don't mind the fingerprints, but the depth is still there.

It was awesome! Much better that those other versions actually made of carbon fiber, carbon fiber plus the depth i wish to see in the door panel how its look like.
