Ok, so if there's anyone left who's upset that the cars are being held up instead of shipped, here's what would happen if they just shipped them instead:

Those transmissions are in VWs priced similar to the Camaro and Audis priced higher. They're failing not under abuse, but while just driving along.

Unlike GM, VW isn't communicating much about it. Unlike GM, VW didn't discover the defect when only a few had been delivered and doesn't seem to hold up delivery to check new ones.

So, be thankful that GM caught Tremec's error and protected you from it!
