And I'm pretty sure you mean more than 1/2 ton towing. The Camaro should tow 1/2 ton with noooo problem. About 2 jet skis I think.
Most of the Big trucks are well over 5 tons towing.

The wear and tear on an engine while hauling is usually double mileage.
Also, the 8.1 L V8 Vortec in my 03' Yukon XL still hauls pretty well
