I have bought and installed used cams before. Back at some point it was a no no. But these days I have no problem with used cams. It isn't like people are taking them to batting practice. And it isn't like they have 50,000 or even 20,000 miles on them. Heck I've installed used OEM cams that have had over 80,000 miles on them. You can always get a micrometer and check the specs...I do that even with new cams. Careful examination is always a must with any part. I've had used cranks, rods, pistons...if something is wrong with it, you will know just from looking at it.
