Put good sticky tires on your cars and you will break all kinds of crap such as half shafts.

Drag racing and IRS do not mix, and your Pirelli tires will go up in smoke at every stop light if it wasn't for electronics.
I dont understand... so you're saying that people are paranoid because Launch Control is for unskilled drivers? Or are you saying that the tranny isnt the real weak link, that IRS is?

The "paranoia" is based on people exploding their output shafts. While I agree with you, IRS failure is common on drag strips, output shafts failing on bone stock cars are not common. So I think some concern is warranted.

But what does sticky tires and half shafts have to do with tranny tailshafts? The answer is... nothing. Launching using the Launch Control was not the only time the output shafts were failing, there was report one guy broke his output shaft while shifting into 2nd gear. So it really doesnt have anything to do with Launch Control, so much as engine torque in general.

As I stated above, I believe some concern for this issue is warranted and I appreciate what FBODFATHER stated above as well. Im waiting patiently for an official response from GM, so I can go out and confidently flog my new camaro without fear of my output shaft exploding and having to test Onstar and GM's roadside assistance program!
