Davenport is close to me. I know the guys over there a little, and they do the Magnusons on almost every Camaro, and they do lots. They are for sure the biggest in Western Canada. They have a ton of happy customers, so I'd guess they are doing it right.
I'm a whipple fan, but I think I agree they won't shine on low-moderate boost.
It's like turbo sizing. Why get 1200whp turbos if you want only 600whp. You are leaving torque on the table.
