the AFM (Active Fuel Management), DOD (Displacement On Demand) and VVT (Variable Valve Timing) in the L99 requires the use of an auto as it shuts down 4 cyls when cruising and when all 8 kick in it causes a slight jerk. however, utilizing an automatic, the converter and fluid in the trans absorb the force and the driver doesnt feel a thing. if they bolted up a manual trans to the L99, the switch from 4-8 cyl mode would be much more pronounced.
